Seeing a need for local special needs kids to have a fun, athletic, competitive experience, the Games started off over 40 years ago when  a couple of Adaptive Physical Ed teachers (Betty Fairchild &  Sue Carr Katra) met Walter Chronert with the Los Altos Kiwanis Club...and we now host over 1000 kids each year at this spectacular, all-inclusive, event for all special kids!  We even have our very own established club: Kiwanis Special Games Club.  For more details,  click here.

To put it all in perspective, read this testimonial:

"Has it been awhile since you have been inspired and truly touched by the sparkling eyes of a child? What about 1,000 children in one day?!

Welcome to the Kiwanis Special Games and the Legacy of Walt Chronert's family. Walt was a member of the Los Altos Kiwanis Club. As the years passed and the athletes grew in number, Peter Bergsman and Tad Curtis took the lead. For many years, Division 34 Kiwanis and Division 12 Kiwanis have shared the Legacy. Since October 1, 2018, we announced the formation of Special Games 1234 Club. Walt Chronert's Legacy Continues!" --Donna Cedervall, Kiwanian of the Year, Division 34, 2018 Past Lt. Governor, Division 34
